By Atharva Enterprises Team • Atharva Enterprises (Solapur, Maharashtra)

OPC आणि PPC मधील फरक न समजल्यामुळे अनेक लोक चुकीचा सिमेंट विकत घेतात. This is one of the most common questions we get from customers — and it has a simple answer once you understand the basics.

What is OPC? OPC stands for Ordinary Portland Cement. It is the traditional cement grade and comes in two variants: - **OPC 43** — moderate strength, good for general construction - **OPC 53** — high strength, used for structural work OPC gains strength faster — which is why it is preferred for RCC work where you need to remove shuttering quickly.

What is PPC? PPC stands for Portland Pozzolana Cement. It contains fly ash which makes it: - More durable over time - More resistant to water and chemicals - Better suited for plastering and brickwork - Slightly slower to gain initial strength

Simple Application Matrix - **Foundations and footings:** OPC 53 - **Columns and beams (RCC):** OPC 53 - **Slabs:** OPC 43 or PPC - **Brickwork and masonry:** PPC - **Plastering:** PPC - **Flooring:** PPC - **Water tanks and basements:** PPC

Which is Cheaper? PPC is generally 5-10% cheaper than OPC. For applications where PPC is suitable, using it over OPC saves money without compromising quality.

Our Advice Do not just ask for "cement" — tell your dealer what you are using it for. A good dealer will recommend the right grade for your application. At Atharva Enterprises, we stock both OPC and PPC across multiple brands.
